Idea Ingeniería is working for Zeta Gas on a project to build a new liquefied gas storage and distribution plant in Murcia.
The objective of the new LPG Storage and Distribution Plant, promoted by the company Compañía de GAS Licuado Zaragoza, S.A., belonging to the Mexican capital group Zeta Gas, is to build two industrial complexes, one for storage by means of spherical tanks and a factory for filling and packaging cylinders and tankers, interconnected with each other and with the port where the product will be received. These facilities will make it possible to place a large quantity of butane cylinders on the market. The packaging and distribution factory will create 107 new direct jobs, as well as another fifty indirect jobs.
The Mexican company intends to enter the liquefied gas market through this plant, which will receive the raw material by ship.
The new plant will be located in the Escombreras Valley in Cartagena, (Murcia), where all the necessary facilities will be built, LPG spherical tanks, spherical tank cooling system, loading and unloading systems by means of loading arms and annexed facilities such as offices, general services, LPG fire-fighting systems, nitrogen inertisation system, etc.
“The project includes a port, whose concession includes a loading and unloading system by means of a marine loading arm; an LPG storage area; and a factory” said Ana Belén Castejón, Mayoress of Cartagena, during the meeting that took place between her and the members of Zeta Gas and IDEA Ingeniería.
The Escombreras plant will house an operational storage of 5,000 tonnes and a strategic storage of 30,000 tonnes more (the one that will house the six spherical tanks), which will reach the new plant via an 8 km gas/oil pipeline linking the plant facilities and the port..
“The Mexican company Zeta Gas plans to invest more than 50 million euros in Escombreras” europa press
The construction cost, including the port and storage facilities, amounts to approximately 50 million euros, and the cost of the filling factory, gas pipelines and loading bay to 10.5 million euros. To all this must be added the cost of the land, which makes the investment more than 70 million euros.
These figures are ‘great news for Cartagena‘. As the mayoress, Ana Belén Castejón, points out, ‘it is important for the Escombreras Valley to continue to attract new companies that contribute to the economic and social development of our municipality. Zeta Gas not only means new investments, but also that in the construction phase some 500 people and more than 120 companies will be involved, of which 20 will do so directly and 100 indirectly. Subsequently, in the operational phase, some 50 direct jobs and 160 indirect jobs will be created
In a first phase, Zeta Gas intends to place a large number of butane cylinders on the market, with a view to gradually increasing the number. The standard cylinder supplied by Zeta Gas has the same capacity as the Repsol cylinder and is suitable for households. It is white, as opposed to Repsol’s orange and Cepsa’s silver cylinder. The cylinders will be delivered to customers by delivery lorries as other companies do. Besides, they will sell propane gas in 35-kilogram containers and will supply buildings via tankers.
Regarding this investment, IDEA Ingeniería will carry out the review and optimisation of the entire project for the New LPG Plant in the factory, spherical tank and port areas.
