Detailed Engineering at LPG Storage and Distribution Plant
Now that the Basic and Execution Project of Public Works Engineering (view project here) of the Butane and Propane (LPG) Storage and Distribution Plant for ZETA GAS in Murcia has now been completed, we present all the information concerning the Detailed Engineering Project, which included the following disciplines:
- Civil Detailed Engineering
- Mechanical Detailed Engineering
- Process Engineering
- I&C Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
Civil Detailed Engineering:
By means of detailed engineering for the civil discipline, we have developed earthworks, urbanisation, underground services and various buildings such as storage facilities, general service and compressor rooms, loading docks and special foundations for installing equipment, piping racks and office buildings, etc… Access roads were also adapted and construction specifications were issued.
The entire installation was developed in 3D using the most advanced programmes, such as Civil 3D, Revit and Tekla, to design and define the facilities.
Mechanical Detailed Engineering:
For Mechanical and Piping Detailed Engineering, the definition and equipment selection tasks, stress calculations, issuance of construction specifications and data sheets, 3D models of mechanical installation and piping, construction details, etc, were developed.
The installation was developed in 3D using the most advanced programmes, such as cadworxs and AutoPIPE, to design and define the facilities.
Process Engineering:
Regarding Process Engineering for the propane and butane unloading, transferring, storing and filling LPG plant, we have developed the Process Description, Operation and Control Philosophy, Control Narrative, PFD Diagrams, P&ID plans, mass balance calculations, hydraulic calculations, equipment, range and chemical lists, etc.
Instrumentation & Control Engineering:
Cause-effect diagrams, control and security system architectures (ESD, F&G, DCS), security and anti-intrusion networks, CCTV networks, control and security system specifications, instruments, cables and boxes, control loop charts, mechanical and electrical connection details (hook ups), connection charts, junction boxes, listing of cables and junction boxes, instrument deployment plans, etc… are included within detailed engineering tasks for P&ID development instrumentation and control.
Electrical Engineering:
With regard to Electric Engineering works, we have developed everything necessary to correctly implement and assemble electrical installations on site, such as the development of standards and specifications for grounding, power, low, medium and high voltage, power output transformers, emergency generator sets, cable specifications, assembly, inspection and testing, lightning protection, condenser batteries and UPS.
Electrical calculations, lightning protection and grounding were also developed. Typified atex-type areas were defined and single lines, electrical boards, plant deployment, etc, were also developed.
