New waste management plant for Sertego.
The company Sertego decided to build a new waste management plant at the Port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
MARPOL waste management comes about as a result of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, MARPOL 73/78, an international treaty applied to at least 97% of active ships, which requires them to manage their waste properly and avoid spilling them to the sea.
Sertego works with all types of MARPOL waste, included in the international convention, but our activity is mainly focused on MARPOL annex I: bilge waste (basic port service) and slop tanks.
For the MARPOL service to be provided, waste must be collected from the ship (both at berth and at anchor) and then transferred to a treatment plant.
Multidisciplinary engineering of the new plant facilities has been carried out in this project. Works in themechanical, piping and civil areas for the development of the basic and detailed engineering at the new facilities, as well as procurement management and on-site supervision.
Scope:
IDEA has carried out multidisciplinary engineering of the new plant facilities. Works in themechanical, piping and civil fields for the development of the basic and detailed engineering project of the new installations, which included the procurement management and on-site supervision tasks.
In this project, IDEA has consolidated and optimised the Plant’s entire process, designing it with a technology for a Thermal Oil boiler. The entire mechanical engineering project was carried out in the same way:

Sertego has continued to commit to IDEA as a partner for its plants’ engineering projects. It began its journey back in 2016 for an extension of the Tanger Plant and continues to rely on us to this day to design its waste plants.
