Drones
IDEA Ingeniería offers its customers the application of technological progress with the use of drones, using them for the inspection and control of industrial installations and infrastructures at a height where access for their maintenance and inspection by traditional methods are complex and involve safety dangers.
Drones, inspection and control.
The purpose of this innovative technology is to make work easier for companies in the Industrial sector as well as to keep expenses and risks to a minimum, reducing the use of staff, the works’ implementation time and, accordingly, the cost.
What is a drone?
A drone is an UNMANNED aerial vehicle, its real name is RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems). The word drone is English. It is called a drone. They are also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).

Photogrammetry
Photogrammetry is a technique for determining the geometric properties of objects and the spacial situations based on photographic images, obtaining 3D models and/or from the cloud points generated. In this way, and using our drones fitted with GPS, the georeferencing is obtained of the objects and points scanned. In the same way, by swapping different cameras we can generate thermal or visible spectrum maps.

Scanning (point cloud)
By combining traditional scanning techniques, such as the 3D laser scanner, and the point clouds generated by our drones, we obtain a data file with a totally complete point cloud, avoiding blind spots at the installations.
Applications to the sector
High-resolution camera
The drone has cameras which provide very clear images and areas can be verified which are hard to access and very risky as said cameras are endowed with stabilised optical zoom.
Thermographic camera
We have a thermographic camera for the detection of hotspots and the generation of thermal maps, thereby carrying out preventive maintenance of the industrial installations.
Point cloud
Point cloud processing for subsequent work at the office.
Status reports and analysis
The data obtained are subjected to analysis and reports are generated of the lines.
Control techniques
Using a drone, the control techniques are improved drastically, detecting any irregularities early with maximum precision and reliability, obtaining data which are comparable with other subsequent inspections which allows a more precise evaluation.
OnShore and OffShore Inspections
OnShore and OffShore Inspections

Inspection of electrical lines
Exhaustive visual inspection and thermograph of the low and high voltage electrical lines.
The drones prevent workers from having to go up the tower and travelling long distances to carry out our projects, submitting high quality data as no risk is taken when acquiring information.
The inspections are speeded up and power cuts are avoided, solely supplying electricity at the time of works’ implementation.

Infrastructure inspection
Safety inspection of buildings, structures and cranes, through a periodic review.
It allows us to detect and measure corrosions, deformations and cracks.
Traditional methods are often risky, slow, expensive and involve the closing of lanes, the use of crane trucks, walkways, etc.

Inspection of wind turbines
Inspection of blades and hub. Inspection of the mast, hub and blades, both in the visual and thermal spectrum.

Inspection of chimneys and gas exhaust
Visual inspection of corrosion, deformations, surface treatment and possible fissures.
Detect the hotspots in an exhaust chimney and cold spots owing to gas leaks.
It is not necessary to stop production to carry out the inspection.

Inspection of pipes and tanks
Visual and thermal inspection of pipes, tanks and storage tanks.
Detection of corrosion, deformations, surface treatment, fissures, level detection and possible sedimentations.

Inspection of oil rigs
Visual inspection of corrosion, deformations, surface treatment and possible cracks.
Inspection of structures at high altitude and areas close to contact with the sea.

Energy efficiency
Thermographic inspection for the determination of energy leaks and thermal bridges.
Generation of thermal maps and models.

Works’ monitoring
Creation of drawings of buildings, plants, façades etc.
Evaluation of building statuses. Expertise.
Planning, supervision and safety.
